William Buckingham Welch

William Buckingham Welch (February 13, 1860May 6, 1946) was a veterinarian in Marshall, Missouri. Welch was the son of president Adonijah Welch and Eunice Welch.

Welch was was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan with his two siblings Harry Welch and Geneviewe Welch. In 1868, the Welch family moved to Ames when Adonijah became the first president of ISU. Welch continued his education in Ames and at ISU until he graduated on in May 1886 (several years past his father's presidency) with a BS.

Welch married Arabella Ryerson shortly after graduating from ISU on May 22, 1886 in Webster City. After being married, they lived in Salina, Kansas for the better part of a decade. They then moved to Marshall, Missouri in 1895 where Welch remained until his death.

In 1904, Welch took a post-graduate course at the Kansas City Veterinary College in veterinary surgery.

In 1935, Welch retired as a veterinarian whom ran a veterinary hospital with a Dr. Albert Goodlive named Welch and Goodlive Veterinarians.

Welch had two children, but they died in infancy.

Services for Welch were held on May 9, 1946 at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Marshall, Missouri and he is buried in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall.
