[edit] Dining
Cheap dining is less than $7.50 per plate; expensive dining is more than $15 per plate; and moderate is inbetween.
[edit] Cheap
- Battle's BBQ has lost some of its coziness when it moved into its new location, but still not bad a place to go for an informal non-vegetarian date.
- Share a giant burrito at the Flying Burrito
- The Joan Bice Underwood Tearoom is as close as you'll get to fine dining for under $6 a plate.
[edit] Moderate
- Great Plains Sauce & Dough Company has pizza good enough to pass as a fine meal and has cozy booths.
[edit] Expensive
- Aunt Maude's is top of the line dining if you want to impress your honey.
- The Broiler has an atmosphere similar to Aunt Maude's but the food is actually worth the price that you pay.
[edit] Entertainment
[edit] Dirt cheap
- Can't get any cheaper than Free Friday Flicks.
- The Dollar Theater, though now $1.50 is still pretty cheap for a movie.
- Stargazing by the Towers cross-country field.
[edit] Cheap
- It's not the Louvre, but the Brunnier Art Museum has a nice classy feel and some interesting exhibits.
- A picnic at Peterson Pit
- Rock climbing at the Lied Rec Center (learn how to belay so your partner's life is in your hands)
- Play pool in the Memorial Union basement or at the Corner Pocket (if over 21)
- Kick the shit out of each other at Wednesday night Fight Night at Toad Holler
[edit] Moderate
[edit] Expensive
- The Botanical Center in Des Moines is a nice balmy place to go in the winter and has cheap food during lunch hours.
- Unless you eat somewhere else first, an I-Cubs game.
