University professor
From Rofflehaus
If you've taught at ISU for a couple of decades and you're doing a pretty good job, you may be promoted to the position of University Professor. It's a tenured rank, so the only way you can lose the title once you have it is to do something really horrible or be promoted further, either to Distinguished Professor or an endowed chair. You pretty much have to be at least a University Professor to be dean of a college
ISU has appointed four University Professors for the current (05-06) school year: William David (music), Mark Power (finance), Ann Thompson (ci) and Stephen Vardeman (statistics). They will formally receive their titles at the fall convocation in September.
