I bet the internet wayback machine has pics of the home page during each iteration.--daoist 20:56, 1 Jul 2005 (CDT)

This page is serving as sort of a category page. There is a strangetalk category, so I propose we move this content into that category page and make this a redirect to the category. There's no reason to make a list of strangetalky stuff at the bottom of this page; that's a dead giveaway that this should be a category. --daoist 09:49, 3 Jul 2005 (CDT)

I agree. We should use the ST category instead of this. --Talenos 10:43, 3 Jul 2005 (CDT)

After discussing this with Cburnett what we're going to do in cases of an article/category set of twins, is move the content into the article, and remove it from the category. Long story short: This page is fine, the other one is bad.--daoist 10:58, 3 Jul 2005 (CDT)

Well With the list i thought you had a quick easy access to other strangetalk content all on the same page, now its a link away and you might not be aware its there at all. It almost seems like the decision should have gone the other way in my opinion. The category page should have the strangetalk article content added and then you have everything on the same page. It would seem a little easier to navigate that way with out any real downsides that i can see. Is there a reason i missing to do it this way? --G_RAM

Well:
  • Separation of content from navigation which leads to
  • Less clutter
  • Categories were originally a hack which leads to
  • Categories can take a lot of CPU time
  • Putting article content on a category seems counter-intuitive to me
Perhaps wikipedia:wikipedia:category is worth a read. Cburnett 13:31, 3 Jul 2005 (CDT)
