State Agricultural College and Model Farm
From Rofflehaus
The State Agricultural College and Model Farm was the original name for Iowa State University in 1858 when the Iowa General Assembly enacted legislation. It is sometimes refered to as Iowa Agricultural College or IAC for short.
Presumably, it remained this name until the Morrill Act of 1862 when it was renamed Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. Iowa became the first state to have a land-grant university through the Morrill Act.
