Solution Center
From Rofflehaus
The Solution Center is a center for solutions: coincidence? It is located in 195 Durham Center (the north-east corner) and Durham has signs pointing you the way there. Their phone number is 515-294-4000 (4-4000 on campus). You can also reach them by email at solution@iastate.edu as well as AIM by messaging ISU IT Help.

[edit] What they do
They will get you connected to the Internet. They will help you gain or regain access to your AccessPlus, WebMail, WebCT, and related programs. They allow you to check out pre-formatted Laptop computers for one week, but caution here, they charge hefty fines if you return them late. They will also provide software support and network troubleshooting at the front desk or from phones. They will also allow you to check in your computer to be serviced by the SNAP team. Both desktops and laptops are allowed, but be sure to bring your power supply if you check in a laptop. Also be sure that the computer can at least start in safe mode, otherwise no dice. The Computer Service Center located in 74 Durham (in the basement) will also help with any hardware related issues, as long as it is a Dell, Gateway, or Apple computer.
[edit] What they won't do
If you are a pirate, they won't touch your computer.
They are not a taxi service. They won't transport your drunk ass from Welch to home.
[edit] Blocked from the Internet
If your computer is blocked from the network for abusive traffic, they will not unblock you instantaneously. You can check to see why you are blocked by simply opening up an internet browser, and there it will list the instructions for getting unblocked. If you have trouble following the instructions, call in and they will help verify the steps. After affirming and reaffirming that you have followed these steps, they will not take any requests over the phone. They request that you send an e-mail to solution@iastate.edu, including the steps you followed to clean the computer and your IP address. At that point, they will put your computer in a queue to be remotely scanned for vulnerabilities. If your computer passes that test, they will unblock the computer. This process can take some time.
Note: if your computer is jailed for a DMCA Notice (meaning you have been trying to download copyrighted material and got caught) you will have to go through an alternate method for getting unblocked.
Alternatively, you can spoof a fake MAC address and reregister your computer. However, if you are repeatedly blocked again, the engineers will catch up to your act, and they will likely revoke your ability to register any computer on the network, ever.
