We've got questions and we could use answers:

  • If you have a question, then add it and sign it
  • If you can answre a question, then add it underneath (with two asterisks), sign it, and then strike out the question.

it's as simple as that.

Additionally, if you feel kind enough, leave a message on the user's talk page that you answered it.

The point is that unanswered questions don't go forgotten.

  • Ok, this one will test your research abilities. Under the Morrill Act of 1862, 30,000 acres were given per congressional representative. Today Iowa has 7: 2 senators + 5 representatives. However, in 1862 Iowa was granted 240,000 acres of land which means we've lost a rep in 160 years. Where can I validate this? Cburnett 00:31, 15 Jul 2005 (CDT)
  • Were the tracks for Dinkey used for anything other than Dinkey/passenger transport? Were there other trains? Cburnett 13:30, 17 Jul 2005 (CDT)

[edit] Art

  • When I first came to ISU, it was in the area in the lobby that looks like a display case should be there. Since then, it has moved outside, in the commons between Beardshear, Carver, and EOB. --Freddie 00:22, 14 Jul 2005 (CDT)
  • Is it true that Forward was once (nearly?) drowned in the (1993?) flood?
  • Is it true that the blue sculpture in front of Design Building was actually an abandoned project by a student, and the university just didn't feel like paying to move it?

  • Supposedly, when it was still in use, the water in Marston Water Tower was regularly tested by students as part of a class activity. One time they found the level of contamination had skyrocketed above the normal level. Attributing it to experimental error, they retested the water and arrived at the same conclusion. They decided to check up on it and found that birds were able to get in through a broken panel. Trapped inside they died, and that's what contaminated the water. Can anyone verify this?
  • Supposedly, there's a petrified moose or something like that in Morrill Hall.
    • There were many stuffed animals in a museum in Morrill Hall. They have since moved to the basement of Science 1. There is a penguin, an armadillo, a black bear cub, and some other weird stuff there. It's pretty scary actually. --Talenos
      • A-ha! So that's where they were! --pussykatz 16:15, 22 Jul 2005 (CDT)
        • Yep, I filmed down there and remember that tortoise quite well. --Talenos 00:42, 23 Jul 2005 (CDT)

[edit] Businesses

  • The place where the Dean's List used to be has had a lot of bars come and go (I don't even know what it's named now). What's the complete history of it (names it's been, why the high turnover, etc.)? Cburnett 20:55, 13 Jul 2005 (CDT)
  • What was the name of the theater west of the bowling alley? Century II or Century III or something. Cburnett 12:59, 14 Jul 2005 (CDT)
  • Century III. The sign is still there, but I think the name has since faded or been removed. --Compositeur 10:30, 16 Jul 2005 (CDT)
  • What was the name of the restaurant south of the bowling alley? Cburnett 12:59, 14 Jul 2005 (CDT)
  • When was Smiles & Gyros founded? --pussykatz 18:09, 16 Jul 2005 (CDT)
    • Looks like this may be answered under Smiles & Gyros#Timeline... Cburnett 00:55, 22 Jul 2005 (CDT)
      • I wrote 1987, which was merely 2003 (the date of the article) - 16 (how old the company supposedly was at the time of publication). It needs to be verified, and it may be off by a year. --pussykatz 14:29, 22 Jul 2005 (CDT)
