Picture of the Week to be displayed on the Main Page from Monday through Sunday.

[edit] Nominations and discussion

Please respond with Oppose or Support or neither to abstain; give a reason; and sign your post (with ~~~~~). To change your vote, use the strikeout tags <S> and </S> and then repeat your vote.

  • Please limit your nominations to one per day or week if this list manages to get too big (~a dozen).
  • See #Example vote below for a voting example.
  • For a list of images, see Special:Imagelist (just a textual list) or Special:Newimages that shows in thumbnails starting with the most recently uploaded.
  • Nominations of your own images is perfectly acceptable.
  • After listing an image here put {{POTW candidate}} on the first line on the image's page.
  • Votes stay active for 5 days from the time it was nominated (or less time if a picture is needed)
  • You can vote on any or all of the images

If there are no current nominations for a POTW and there are no more weeks claimed then it's time to recycle previous images. Since this has yet to be done, there are no instructions yet. Probably what could be done is just simply redirecting the unclaimed week to a previous week's. If redirecting doesn't work then a copy/paste will probably need to be done and a note left on that POTW image's nomination archive that it was reused on another week.

[edit] To process a nomination from above

  1. Check that the vote has been open for 5 days from time of nomination
  2. Remove {{POTW candidate}} from the image page
  3. If the consensus is...
    • ...to support the nomination then add {{POTW image}} to the image page
    • ...against nomination then add {{POTW failed}} to the image page
  4. Click the link in the new box that takes you do "Rofflehaus:Picture of the Week/imagename"
  5. Start the page with {{subst:POTW top}} REASON where REASON is either
    • nominated to POTW.
    • not to nominate as POTW.
  6. Add in a blank line or two
  7. Cut/paste the section header and the vote/discussion to this new page to archive the vote
  8. Add in a blank line or two
  9. End the page with {{subst:POTW bottom}}
  10. Save the page
  11. Go to Rofflehaus:Picture of the Week/Archive
  12. Find the next unclaimed week (might be this month, the next month, or the next month....)
  13. Create that week's entry
    1. Find a currently existing box and copy/paste into the new week
    2. Change the image
    3. Change the caption based on the image's page; the page(s) the image is used; or make up something appropriate
    4. Change the photo credit to the uploader or author (check image page if it's specified)
    5. Change the month & year archive link
  14. Preview and verify information then save

Note: the "subst:" in the template tags substitute the template into the page so that it no longer uses the template. This is required.
