Rofflehaus is back in style! We've upgraded the server software and solved that pesky "nobody can make an account" problem, so feel free to login or sign-up and start libeling local businesses like back in the day.

This Month in ISU History
January 5: In 1943, George Washington Carver, a noted Botanist and first African-American student & professor at ISU, dies from anemia after falling down a flight of stairs at his home.

January 6: In 2002, Alison Ciancio, a sophomore in animal science, was killed by a drunk driver, Jamal Lee Brinkley.

January 9: In 1859, Carrie Chapman Catt was born. Catt was a known women's rights activist and whom Catt Hall is named after.

January 10: In 1804, US Representative Oakes Ames (MA-R) was born. The city of Ames was named after Ames by his friend John Blair.

January 18: In 2002, Big Shots opens, after Dean's List closed in the previous November

January 22: After losing a 2002 men's basketball game, Larry Eustachy parties it up with students at University of Missouri-Columbia and is photographed doing so. For this and his disparaging remarks about the team led to his termination as coach.

January 24: In 2003, Randy Brown is confronted about his child pornography.

January 26: In 2002, an alleged raping of Ashley Howard by Royce Hooks found Hooks off the football team and without a scholarship despite being found not guilty.

January 27: In 2004, Sarah Dahlke, a fall 2003 graduate of ISU, was murdered a month after graduating by, then, 16 year-old Taylor Pirtle while house-sitting in Des Moines.


This Month in Ames History
January 2: In 2004, downtown Ames is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as "Old Town Historic District".

January 21: In 1952, John Craft Soper dies. Soper's father, Thomas Soper, was the owner of Soper's Mill.
