Ralph P. Lowe

Ralph P. Lowe (November 27, 1805 – December 22, 1883) was the fourth governor of the state of Iowa and held office from 1858 to 1860. On March 29, 1858, Lowe approved a bill for a state agricultural college and farm. This act put the college under an 11 member — one per judical district — Board of Trustees (including the governor and president of the Iowa State Agricultural Society as ex officio members) and inluded an appropriation of $10,000.
