Hilton Coliseum is located at the Iowa State Center just southwest of the ISU Campus. Its primary function is to play host to the ISU Men's and Women's Basketball games, but it has performed many secondary functions including concerts, various shows, and other athletic events.

Its construction is that of a true coliseum shape and its seating is steeper than most basketball arenas. It is considered to be one of the loudest arenas in the NCAA, which is largely due to the steep seating and the innovative ceiling design which reflects sound down to the court, and supposedly has one of the best home court advantages in NCAA Basketball. Sometimes compared to Iowa City's Kinnick Stadium.
