George Jones

George W. Jones (1837 – 1911) was one of the very first faculty members at Iowa State. During his time he served as head of the mathematics and civil engineering departments and even served for a time as acting president of the University.

- Among his relatives was his nephew Raymond Pearson, Iowa State's seventh president.
- Jones House in Eaton Hall is named after him.
