[edit] Some Examples
Right above, that's a heading. I used an equals sign on each side.
To see how to make these examples, click edit at the top of this page.
[edit] Text Decoration
(that is a level 2 heading, because I used two equal signs on each side) This is normal text. This is italicized. This is bold. This is both.
[edit] Links
You create a link by using two sets of brackets. like this: Stuff. If you want to create a link to another website, you use a single pair of brackets, with the URL and the name inside. Google.
If you're browsing a page and notice a link in red text, that means the page it goes to doesn't exist yet. You can click on the red text to go there and start writing.
[edit] Lists
(If a page has 4 or more headings, it gets a table of contents automatically.)
Lists are cool.
- asterisks
- make a bulleted list
- number signs make
- numbered lists
- Semicolons
- make definition lists
- You follow the word with a colon
- then write the definition.
- you can
- nest lists
- to make
- logical
- sense
- you can
- nest different
- kinds of
- lists, too.
Without creating a list, to indent stuff
- use a colon
- at the beginning of the line
- more colons means more indentation
[edit] Templates
These are templates: You just use then name of the template with double curly braces on each side:
| It is requested that this article, or a section of this article, be exterminated from all existance! See the request on the listing or elsewhere on this talk page. Once the improvements have been completed, you may remove this notice and the page's listing. |
| It is requested that this article, or a section of this article, be expanded or improved. See the request on the listing or elsewhere on this talk page. Once the improvements have been completed, you may remove this notice and the page's listing. |
| This page may not have a neutral point of view, and someone was such a pussy they felt the need to add this disclaimer instead of arguing about it. See the request on the listing or elsewhere on this talk page. Once the improvements have been completed, you may remove this notice and the page's listing. |
One cool thing is that some templates, like this one, take arguments:
| This article may violate one or more Policies. Once the improvements have been completed, you may remove this notice. Policy violated:
|
Another cool thing is that templates can automatically include your page in categories. In fact, I didn't even add this page to most of the categories at the bottom of the page, that was done automatically by these templates.
[edit] Categories
Categories keep things organized. You put a page in a category by putting this at the end:
