The ASLA medallion

Along with the University of Virginia and Yale University, ISU's Central Campus was listed as a "medallion site" by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) in 1999, one of only three (the others being Yale University and U of Virginia) central campuses nationwide. It was listed as one of 25 most beautiful sites in the United States in the book The Campus as a Work of Art. Central Campus is 20 acres (81,000 m²) of lawn and trees.

Located on the south side of Central Campus is the Campanile, just north of the Memorial Union.
