Carillonneur
From Rofflehaus
One who plays the carillon. Tin-Shi Tam is the current official university carillonneur. She performs short daily concerts on the Campanile around noon when classes are in session.
Listed chronologically, these were the past and current ISU carillonneurs:
- 1931-1969, Ira Schroeder
- 1969-1971, Bruce Eberle
- 1971-1973, Marilyn Anderson
- 1973-1991, Richard von Grabow
- 1992- Charles T. & Ivadelle Cobb Cownie Professor of Music (this part is sketchy)
- 1994-present, Tin-Shi Tam
While these were the official university carillonneurs, there was at least one recorded case of someone else playing the carillons. In September, 1991, in the absence of an official carillonneur, Kenn McCloud locked himself inside the Campanile and played "Louie Louie" to raise the money to hire a carillonneur. He raised $10,700 in just five days.
