Cafe Northwest is a Greek restaurant and bar located at 114 Des Moines Avenue in Ames.

They have relocated from their longtime spot at 118 South Duff. The new building is very nice. While it may not look like much from the outside, the atmosphere inside is quite nice. It goes without saying, of course, that the food remains fantastic. They have excellent steak as well as Greek cuisine. It is a great place to bring a date.

Cafe Northwest opened in 1983 at 640 East Lincoln Way and moved to 118 South Duff Avenue in 1990. In April 2005, only a verbal agreement was made to extend the building lease for another five years, but on July 1 the landlord evicted Cafe Northwest. The upcoming location will be 114 Des Moines Avenue and plans on opening mid- to late-November 2005.

Cafe Northwest is co-owned by George Papouchis and Augustine Mendez.
