Burris, Judith
From Rofflehaus
Judith Burris is a landlord of a private property in the campustown of Ames, Iowa. She is known to come over unannounced and go through her tenant's property. When caught by a tenant she makes up excuses that are untrue. She is very unfriendly to pets, caged or not. Unlike most landlords, she comes over personally to drop off a utility bill and to collect rent, often overstaying her welcome. She has been known to stay as long as 30 minutes to two hours.
[edit] Problems
-Shows up unannounced
-Goes through drawers and cabinets
-Puts words in other people's mouths
-Tries to make tenants and friends of tenants do chores
-Lies to make things go her way (see Lies)
-Makes tenants do uneeded things, ex. Sweep the ceiling, mow a freshly mowed lawn
[edit] Lies
-Implies that tenants who have not yet paid their rent told her that they left her a rent check in the drawer or cabinet that she is currently exploring. (this happens often)
-Tells the tenants that the safety inspector and property assessor asked her to tell the tenants to clean the house, mow the lawn or rake leaves. All things that do not concern those people.
-Claimed that she was allergic to dogs but never showed any signs of it
[edit] Dog Story
On one occasion after seeing a dog that does not belong to the tenants at the property, claimed that it could not be there because it urinated on her thigh. After being told that it was a lie she said that the owner saw it. After summoning the owner, it was affirmed that what she said was a lie. She quickly changed her claim to, the dog had urinated earlier and wiped it off on her thigh. This is also untrue, as the dog was a female dog that must sit to urinate, and fully outstreched she could only realistically wipe urine to the top of the shoe, which she also did not do. The Landlord tried to point to a wet spot that did not exist and asked the tenants to smell her thigh. The tenants, though angry at her lies, kindly refused.
Previous tenants have said that she would fold their laundry without their knowledge.
