[edit] Trivia

Buchanan has at times been considered part of Richardson Court and Union Drive. Officially, it is part of the Union Drive Neighborhood, but between its significant distance from the other four buildings and its significantly different demographics, it rarely functions as part of any group. It is occasionally mistaken for a Richardson Court building, thanks to its proximity to Old RCA, but the same differences are in play there as with the Union Drive connection.

In 2004, Buchanan underwent a significant renovation and addition project. House lounges and full kitchens were added to the 3rd through 9th floors on the southwest corner of the building, new hall desk and office space was created on the 2nd floor, and the large common lounge was built on the north side.

Prior to the 2004 renovation, there were no house names for the floors in Buchanan. Shortly after this renovation, house names were transferred over to Buchanan thanks to the demolition of Knapp Hall.
