General information about this fascinating chain: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldi

Aldi makes an exception on their no-advertisement policy for the United States, so look for those for money-saving opportunities. They close on Sundays. They have really cheap stuff, and the poor reputation on the lack of quality really is undeserved. Try it out sometime.

Often they have "special buys"; normal items they get for cheap. Usually it's expensive name-brand cereal, candy, or some other high-priced food. Some times Aldi sells computers; usually Medions, believe it or not.

There aren't really shelves or anything; the products are just stacked in the boxes they're shipped in. There's only 4 aisles. First is candy, cereal, and some canned food. Along the back wall is the dairy case. The next aisle has yet more canned food. The third aisle has fruit, canned food, and miscellaneous stuff. The bread is in the back left corner of the store. The fourth aisle has juice and the freezer section.

Bring a quarter for deposit if you plan on using the cart. You get it back when you return the cart. Shopping bags cost money but you can bring your own. Since there are plenty of nearly empty boxes used to display the merchandise, most Aldi shoppers take the boxes to use for carrying their groceries, eliminating the need for bringing bags or buying them.

[edit] Payment

Aldi does not accept personal checks or credit cards. You must use either cash, a debit card, or a food stamp card.
